Messages of Support
Y.A.B. Dato Seri Abdullah bin Haji Ahmad Badawi
Our honourable Prime Minister of Malaysia

The Government has marked the development of a world class education system as one of its important agenda. This is because the quality of our education system will determine the quality of the country future. Education, particularly in the early years of our children lives - builds up the young generation knowledge and character in life. This would not only enable us to produce young Malaysians who are competitive, but also citizens who can contribute positively to their nation.

With the ever-evolving and changing needs of the nation as well as the global market, Malaysia needs to leap forward into the next stage of development. It is vital to develop world-class tertiary institutions to produce world-class graduates. Education will also ensure that Malaysia not only continues to have a big pool of knowledge workers, but will also produce Malaysians who are innovative, competitive and at the same time, value unity and harmony.

Thus, it is important for all tertiary educational institutions to evaluate and benchmark their quality of education against the best in the world which are relevant to our local environment and culture. We should work towards eliminating the constant laments about our graduates possessing poor communication skills, weak thinking, lack of creativity or lack of initiative. Universities and colleges must also enhance their industry links so as to understand the market? needs in ensuring that our graduates are workforce-ready. A close relationship between the industries and universities can encourage the creation of students who are for life-long learning, always striving for excellence, and with a keen passion for knowledge.

Thus, I would like to encourage all parties in the education system to work together in undertaking the challenging task of changing our education system for the better. In this regard, I would like to congratulate Challenger Concept (M) Sdn. Bhd. for its dedicated effort in promoting Malaysian education to both local and international students and its publication of the 9th Edition of Education Guide Malaysia.

Thank You.
